Your data never leaves your device
Speedelly is engineered to be zero-knowledge by design. Speed test results, your IP address, and location data are never transmitted to or stored on Speedelly's servers. Not because we promise it β because the code makes it technically impossible.
Tests connect directly from your device to a third-party network-measurement endpoint and back. Speedellyβs servers are never in the path β we never see or log your traffic.
Your past test results are saved using localStorage β a browser-local database that never syncs to any server. You can inspect it yourself: press F12 β Application β Local Storage β speedelly.com. You'll see sp_history. Delete it anytime.
Our speed test engine is plain JavaScript in engine.js and gauge.js. Press F12 β Sources in your browser to read every line. You can confirm there are no hidden API calls to Speedelly servers transmitting your data.
We have no sign-up flow because we built no user database. There is literally nowhere for personal information to go. Every tool on Speedelly runs entirely in your browser tab.
Open F12 β Network tab, then run a speed test. Youβll see requests only to the test-network endpoint (download/upload bytes) and β only after you consent β a geolocation provider for your approximate city. No Speedelly back-end server receives any data.
Technical Privacy Summary
1. Information We Collect
Speedelly is privacy-first by architecture, not just policy. Here is every category of data involved:
- Speed test results β Stored only in your browser's
localStorage. Never transmitted to Speedelly servers. Never shared. - Your IP address β Used transiently by your browser during the test to connect to the measurement endpoint. Speedelly never receives or stores it. With your consent, your approximate city/region is fetched from a third-party IP-geolocation provider and displayed only β never stored by us.
- Device/browser info β Some tools (e.g. PC Health Check) read browser APIs like
navigator.hardwareConcurrency. This data is processed locally and never sent to any server.
2. Advertising
Speedelly is free because it is funded by advertising. We use Google AdSense to serve ads. Google may use cookies to show relevant ads based on your browsing history across other sites, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.
Advertising revenue is what makes Speedelly 100% free for all users, with no premium tiers, paywalls, or data monetisation.
3. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand page-level traffic (e.g. which tools are most popular). Google Analytics receives only anonymised aggregated data β page URLs and session counts. It never receives your speed test results, IP address, or any personal information entered into tools.
4. Cookies & Local Storage
- sp_theme β Your dark/light mode preference. Browser-local, never sent to a server.
- sp_history β Your last 20 speed test results. Browser-local, never sent to a server. Delete via the "Clear History" button or your browser's storage settings.
- Google AdSense cookies β Set by Google's advertising network. See Google's cookie policy.
- Google Analytics cookies β Anonymised usage analytics set by Google.
5. Third-Party Services Used
- Network-measurement endpoint β A third-party service that serves the download/upload bytes used to measure your speed. Your device connects to it directly; it never receives identifying data from Speedelly.
- IP-geolocation provider β A third-party service that returns your approximate city/region from your IP, for on-screen display only, and only after you consent. Not stored by us.
- Google DNS (
dns.google) β Used by the DNS lookup tool. Queries are subject to Google's privacy policy.
6. Data Retention
Speedelly retains no personal data on its servers β because no personal data is ever sent to our servers. Your test history is in your browser and is deleted the moment you click "Clear History" or clear your browser's local storage.
7. Your Rights (GDPR / India DPDP / CCPA)
Since Speedelly does not hold personal data about you, there is nothing to access, export, correct, or delete from our systems. You remain in complete control of your browser's local storage at all times. If you have questions about Google's data processing, those are governed by Google's own privacy policies linked above.
8. Children's Privacy
Speedelly does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. The service is a general-purpose browser utility suitable for all ages.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date at the top reflects changes. Continued use of Speedelly after updates constitutes acceptance.
