Connection Classifier

Fiber, cable, DSL or LEO satellite like Starlink? We analyse your latency pattern — median, jitter and periodic spikes — to estimate your connection topology entirely in the browser.

This is a best-effort estimate from latency behaviour, not a definitive detection — VPNs, Wi-Fi and congestion can shift the pattern. We say "likely", not "certain".

🛰️ How patterns differ

Fiber: 2–8ms, very steady. Cable: 8–30ms, fairly steady. LEO (Starlink): 25–50ms with periodic spikes from satellite handoffs every ~15s. GEO satellite: 600ms+. DSL/mobile: higher, more variable.

🔬 What we measure

~40 rapid latency probes, then median, jitter, 90th percentile and spike frequency. The shape of that histogram is the fingerprint of your access technology.

🌟 If you're on LEO

Expect periodic latency spikes during satellite handoffs — this is normal for Starlink and doesn't mean something is wrong.
